Procedures after entry into Japan
1.Procedures at Tsuruoka City Hall
Please carry out the following procedure in Tsuruoka City Hall with tutor within 14days.
- Report of the house place
- Participation of the national health insurance
- Participation of the national pension premium exemption application *1
- 【Only JICA students】Get a certificate of residence *2
*1 Regular students can use the student payment exception system, and non-regular students (research students, special auditing students, etc.) can use the general national pension premium exemption/payment postponement system.
*2 Please submit the certificate of residence to the International Office at the Student Center.
*3 Person who entered from a regional airport can receive a residence card about 10 days after your report your move in.
*4 If you have not yet received it, wait until you can or ask the International Office to issue a certificate of enrollment.
*5 There is a field to enter your address in Japan on the report of the house place.
Those procedures can be done at the Citizens Division ”Shimin-ka” on the 1st floor of the City Hall and then please bring the following items.
- Passport
- Residence Card *3
- Student Card *4
- Something that shows your address in Japan *5
2.Submissions and application to the University
Procedures before entry into Japan
【Required for all students】
- Copy of resident card (both sides)
*Please submit this each time there is a change, such as an addition of address in Japan, change of address, extension of period of stay, or work permit without status. - Copy of passport
- Form for bank account registration
- Copy of bankbook (front cover and pages 2 and 3)
*It is included in procedure of your bank account registration on page.5 on this book. - Your phone number
*It is OK to let us know after you get the number.
【Only JICA students】
- Certificate of residence
- Copy of housing contract
【Only MEXT students】
- Airline ticket when coming to Japan
- Signed power of attorney (sent in advance)

*Except for documents requiring signatures and residence certificates.
